End-of-year marketing musts

With just a few weeks left in 2017, this is a great time to reflect on everything your business has accomplished this year. But it’s also an opportunity to plan ahead, tie up loose ends and make the most of the days remaining on your calendar. That’s especially true when it comes to your marketing efforts, which is why we’ve rounded up our list of must-do’s to check off between now and the new year.

Start by thinking ahead. Marketing on the fly is never a successful strategy. In fact, it’s no strategy at all. Make sure your marketing objectives for 2018 align with your overall business goals, and that the tactics planned support them.

Follow up before you finish out. End of year is a great time to wrap up loose ends. Just as you’re closing out projects and preparing to launch into new endeavors, your customers are too. So if you’ve got a new client pitch that’s been dangling for a while, now’s the time to followup – you just might see the progress you’ve been waiting for.

Remember to say thanks. While you’re patting yourself on the back for a job well done, it’s good to remember who made it possible – your customers. The holiday season is a great time to say thanks, whether it’s with a client gift, a holiday card or a thank-you coupon.

Reflect and analyze. While you’re reviewing end-of-year P&Ls and business goals, this is a good time for an Auld Lang Syne moment with your marketing data as well. Analyzing 12 months’ of data provides fantastic insight into what worked, what didn’t work, and where you should be going next. Use that information to direct next year’s marketing efforts.

Adding those four marketing to-do’s to your end-of-year list will help ensure 2018 kicks off to a great start. If you’d like more information on making any of them happen, we can help.
